Ivor Flint  ALCM LLCM(TD) FISM is a voice, piano and composition teacher and tenor soloist, composer and conductor. Ivor began teaching singing and voice in 1982 and has since gained a reputation as a first class classical voice teacher and also teaches piano and composition. He was one of the compliers of the new 2018 London College of Music Piano grade syllabus.

Ivor is highly qualified with over 30 years' experience. He continues his professional development keeping ahead of current thinking in the development of voice science which he links with his extensive knowledge of older schools of singing. He combines the old and the new into a thoroughly effective approach individually tailored for each student.

Following on from the EVTA conference in Slovenia, Ivor gave a short presentation at the beginning of the EVTA conference in Aix-en-Provence, and then attended the first European Academy of Voice in Marseilles and finished the summer at the  Pan European Voice Conference.  Ivor gave a presentation on Private Teaching at the Music Show November 2013. He will next be presenting for the London College of Music on Developing Aural Skills on September 30th 2018.

Ivor performs as a tenor soloist in opera, oratorio and gives recitals and has worked with, amongst others, Geoffrey Burford, Mary Bruce and Betty Roe MBE. He studied singing firstly in Warwick with Angela Caine then in London with Lawrence Watts, Gita Denise, Constance Shacklock, Alison Pearce and Andy Field, and in Germany with Wolfgang Palm. He has performed with companies including Handel Opera, The Music Room, Barrezzi Opera, Northern Ireland Opera Trust, Musica Nel Chiostro, W10, and in addition, broadcast on BBC Radio and was a frequent visitor to Finchcocks.  He also studied composition and conducting under Ron Rappoport.  In December 2013 the first part of his new Christmas Cantata for the Janice Thompson Trust had the first part performed. In 2014 Suzi Digby commissioned and performed Ivor's new composition "Ceremony After A Fire Raid" (for mezzo soprano and flute solo, string quartet and chorus) to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Dylan Thomas, along with a new setting of Polly Garter's song (from Under Milk Wood) for soprano and harp; and a new piece for narrator, chorus and small orchestra with words by the late Dannie Abse to celebrate Dylan Thomas's life and work.

Ivor Flint is Lead Tutor in Classical Singing at the London College of Music (University of West London) and teaches undergraduate and post-graduate students on the B.Mus (Hons) and M.Mus courses and leads the singing module on the new B.A (Hons) Voice in Performance launched in September 2016. He was appointed as an examiner with the LCM Examinations board at the end of 2012 and has worked in Singapore, India, Malaysia, Dubai, Indonesia, China, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Greece, Ireland and Cyprus.

As part of his contributory work to music, Ivor served as Chair of the Association of Teachers of Singing until summer 2018 and is a member of The English Singers and Speakers (AESS) and  The Royal Society of Musicians.   In the past, Ivor was elected as Warden of the Private Teachers section of the Incorporated Society of Musicians.  He is a past member of NATS , The Association  the European Piano Teachers Association (EPTA), the British Voice Association and The Royal Musical Association Association of British Choral Directors (ABCD).
